GMP SPRAY DRYING

Upperton has a strategic partnership agreement with R5 Pharmaceuticals (Nottingham, UK). As a result we can now offer our customers spray-drying research, development and cGMP manufacture.

Upperton's partner, R5 Pharmaceuticals, is an integrated formulation and development company. It has a comprehensive range of contract services in drug development for the pharma and biotech industry and has already built a client portfolio with customers from the USA as well as EU and non-EU countries.

Currently Upperton can spray dry products using 2 spray dryers:

  • Buchi Laboratory Spray Dryer: suitable for small scale clinical manufacture (typical batch size 1 - 100g)
  • Niro Pharmaceutical Spray Dryer: suitable for larger scale manufacture (typical batch size 100g - 3kg)

Process transfer between the 2 dryers is generally straightforward and this offers customers a seamless development of their product from early feasibility work right through to clinical manufacture.

Using R5's experience and MHRA-approved facilities allows Upperton to offer its customers a comprehensive manufacturing capability. This will enable its customers to move into clinical development with their research projects in a timely, cost-efficient way.
