Upperton’s world leading expertise in biomolecule conjugation chemistry and especially albumin chemistry offers three drug delivery technologies with unique advantages:
- Production of nano-sized particles from peptides, proteins and other biomolecules
- Unique advantages include size-control, preservation of molecule’s structural and functional integrity, simplicity and scalability of production process.
- Nanoparticles can be made from active molecules or from carrier proteins to be loaded with drugs.
- Technology has been demonstrated with recombinant albumin*, transferrin, Apolipoprotein A-1, and monoclonal antibodies

- Drugs, peptides or other molecules can bind naturally or be attached covalently to carrier proteins like albumin or transferrin.
- Upperton uses the unique properties of albumin or transferrin to design the most efficient and suitable linking chemistry for a given purpose/drug.
- Drugs linked to e.g. albumin or albumin nanoparticles can dramatically improve pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties.
- Linking technology has been demonstrated with 99mTc, Gadolinium, Methotrexate, and Doxorubicin.

- Upperton’s patented rP-targetTM technology chemically links monoclonal antibodies to drug loaded albumin or albumin nanoparticles.
- Drug loaded albumin molecules or nanoparticles can thus be targeted to specific sites.
- Several drug loaded albumin molecules can be linked to a single monoclonal antibody, increasing delivery efficiency.
