Business Support and Marketing Officer (Permanent)
Upperton Pharma Solutions is a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) that specialises in the production of novel pharmaceutical drug products for use in clinical trials. Our clients come from across the globe, seeking to utilise our specialist knowledge and experience in the development of a wide range of challenging pharmaceutical formulations that are used to treat indications as diverse as oncology, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
The Upperton laboratories and manufacturing plant are situated on the Science Park, adjacent to the University of Nottingham, and since obtaining an MHRA clinical trials manufacturing licence in 2019 we have experienced rapid, continuous growth across the whole business to continually satisfy our growing, international customer base.
As part of this expansion programme Upperton is now looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to both lead and further develop our rapidly expanding team.
As Business Support and Marketing Officer, you will provide effective and efficient support for the Business Development and Commercial Operations teams.
The Business Development and Commercial Operations teams are responsible for a variety of aspects such as: identifying, generating and tracking new business leads, proposal tracking, new product introduction, project administration, website and CRM management. You will also be responsible for general marketing activities such as organising webinars, supporting social media posts, posting newsletters, grant applications and providing support for strategic collaborations. There will be the need to build strong relationships with potential clients and the post holder will be responsible for using lead generation tools such as Zymwire and for initiation of new business contacts.
We are looking for an individual with good organisation skills and knowledge of a range of IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Good communication skills are essential as direct contact with clients and business critical associates will be required.

- Be educated to degree level or higher or have considerable work experience in a relevant role.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively contribute within a team environment and work on own initiative.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- A background or prior knowledge of an area of business administration.
- A working knowledge of website and CRM software tools, ideally with WordPress & MailChimp
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
